International youth day

African Organization for Rights and Development on the Occasion of International Youth Day
August 12, 2026

The United Nations and the international community celebrate International Youth Day on the 12th of August every year, as a global occasion to highlight the vital role that young people play in bringing about positive change and building more just, sustainable, and peaceful societies.

First: Recalling Last Year’s Partnership
The African Organization for Rights and Development had the honor of celebrating this occasion last year at the Organization’s headquarters, together with a number of partner organizations, in an event that brought together diverse and inspiring youthful energies. That celebration served as a platform to showcase initiatives, exchange experiences, and reaffirm our shared belief that investing in youth is truly investing in the future.

Second: Our Celebration This Year
Given the current global circumstances and the challenges facing the work of organizations and communities, the African Organization for Rights and Development has decided this year to hold its celebration solely through its digital platforms. We recognize that geographic distance cannot diminish the value of this occasion, nor the depth of the message we carry.
Celebrating youth is not tied to a place, but to a firm conviction that the voices of young people must be heard, and that their efforts must be appreciated under all circumstances.

Third: Our Message to Youth
At the African Organization for Rights and Development, we believe that young people are essential partners, not merely beneficiaries. They are leaders of today, not just tomorrow.
Therefore, we reaffirm our commitment to working on:

Empowering youth with the skills and knowledge that qualify them for the labor market and community participation.

Supporting youth initiatives and providing safe spaces for expression and creativity.

Involving youth in decision-making that affects their present and future.

On this day, we extend our deepest appreciation and respect to every young man and woman. You are the energy of hope, you are the drivers of change, and you are the hope we bet on in building a better tomorrow.

We also extend our greetings to our partner organizations who were with us last year, and to all institutions that work for young people despite all challenges.

Wishing you all the best, and may you always remain capable, influential, and makers of a difference.
